PROGRAMS
Our programs and events create an atmosphere of friendship and love, where each person feels valued and accepted for who they are and for the gift of true friendship they offer.
- Friends@Home: Friends with & without disabilities build friendships through regular visits at home.
- Senior Circle: Adults in the community visiting seniors in their homes once a week.
- Birthday Boxes: Boxes filled with goodies for children with disabilities and cards for Teen Friends.
- Birthday Circles: Monthly birthday celebrations for children throughout RVA.
- Parent Outings: Created for parents of children with disabilities, offering opportunities to get out, connect with others, and enjoy time away from the everyday routine.
- Teen Scene: Social activities & outings where teens with & without disabilities can build friendships and have fun.
- Young Adult Division (YAD): Social activities & experiences for young adults with disabilities ages 18–30.
Friendship Circle hosts annual community events raising awareness about disabilities, mental health and inclusion. These events typically occur in January, May, August, and November.
- Disability Inclusion Day: An inclusive day at the ballpark bringing people with & without disabilities together to enjoy America’s pastime.
- Disability Expo: Connects individuals with disabilities, families, and caregivers with resources, services, and organizations.
- RVA Adaptive Athletics Day (RAAD): An adaptive sports event for ages 5–40, pairing participants with volunteers for encouragement, support, and fun.
- Walk N Roll: An all-abilities walk & fair.
- Teen Friends: Opportunity to make life-long friends & connect with the disability community.
- Teen Leadership Board: Inclusive teen board meets monthly, assists with programs and events, & increases community involvement.
