Testimonials

Parent of a child with disabilities

You don’t realize how many activities your family is excluded from until you experience true inclusion. I am so very grateful for Disability Inclusion Day at the Diamond hosted by Friendship Circle of Virginia. I didn’t think a baseball game was in the cards for us. And yet, after an afternoon at the Squirrels stadium, including a sensory picnic area where my son played for two hours, he didn’t want to come home. The challenge now is explaining that not every game will be like that. Thank you for this incredible event and including my kids. I am so grateful.

Mayor Danny Avula

What an incredible day at the Diamond for the 4th Annual Disability Inclusion day! It was an honor to speak alongside Senator Van Valkenburg and to meet so many wonderful families who joined today’s special event. Big thanks to Friendship Circle of VA and the Richmond Flying Squirrels for making this afternoon come to life and your continued efforts in building a more inclusive community for all here in Richmond.

SNL Cares

Inclusion Day at the Diamond is my favorite event that SLN Cares volunteers with. It is an incredible day that is filled with baseball and happiness

Parent of a child with disabilities:

"I thought we would just come for a little while and see how long our son lasted. This is the first year we made it into the stands and sat in our seats so that was huge! We stayed all the way until the end of the game and he loved the sensory zone and the robotics. You guys thought of everything and it made all the difference to our family. Thank you!"

“What a great day! Thank you so much for putting on a day where everyone can feel included and parents don’t feel judged.”
